With great pleasure we welcome Miami native Nick Rosen to the Ropeadope family. Nick is in demand, playing live or doing session work with the likes of Col. Bruce Hampton, Russell Gunn, Dionne Farris, Jennifer Holliday and more. His debut album, Step Into The Light, is aptly tited as Nick steps out on his own with a little help from guests Terreon Gully, Saunders Sermons, and Oteil Burbridge. The compositions are mysterious and delicate, which is not to say that they don't swing.

About nick rosen

Soulful... When you listen to Nick Rosen play, that is the one word that comes to mind. Though he is a technical virtuoso on his instrument and capable of playing in all styles, Nick’s soulful expression is what leaves you captivated. Born and raised in Miami, Nick’s calling for music began at a young age when he began plucking tunes out at the piano. Fast forward a couple decades and Nick has become one of the most sought after musicians in the southeast, traveling and performing all over the country and the world. Nick has performed or recorded with many legendary artists including Jennifer Holliday, Dionne Farris, Roy Ayers, Tony Momrelle, Curtis Fuller, Russell Gunn, Grant Green Jr., Colonel Bruce Hampton, and Donnie.

On “Step Into The Light”, his debut album, rich colors mix with driving rhythms to create a sound that is both unique and appealing. Virtuoso musicians grace the album including Terreon Gully (Dianne Reeves, Stefon Harris, Christian McBride), Saunders Sermons (Maxwell, Tedeschi Trucks Band), Joel Powell (Musiq Soulchild, India Arie) and the great Oteil Burbridge.

As incredible as the playing is, the true beauty of the album comes from the honesty with which it’s performed. While much modern music is dedicated to technical proficiency on one hand or mass appeal on the other, Nick walks a fine line between both, able to reach any listener of any background.
