Born and raised in Israel, Reut Regev started shaping her impressive reputation on the Jazz scene at a young age.
Throughout the years Reut has worked on many projects of her own and in conjunction with her husband, drummer, Igal Foni. This includes her current project, R Time. Her debut recording as a band leader, This Is R Time, is sure to make a stir.
With an energy that inspires, Reut's playfulness and charisma provides a more than pleasurable sensory experience for all.
This Is R TIME was recorded and mixed at Avatar Studios. The head recording and mixing engineer Scott Young was assisted by Brian Montgomery and Rob Anderson. It was mastered at Masterdisk by Randy Merill, assisted by Scott Young. Performing on the album are Reut Regev, guitarist David Phelps, bassist Brad Jones, drummer Igal Foni and Special Guest percussionist Eddie Bobe.
At five years old Reut was introduced to the piano, and then added the trombone to her arsenal at age thirteen. While in high school, she had the opportunity to play with some of
Israel's most creatively improvisational musicians, as well as perform at Israel's top Jazz Festivals. Reut eventually decided to concentrate on her beloved trombone, and has proven to be a remarkably inspiring innovator. After serving in Israel's army band, Reut made her way to NYC and started performing in popular Jazz clubs. She has since taken part in various musical projects in the genres of Jazz, Latin, Improvised, Contemporary Classical, Klezmer, Rock music and more. She has worked with various artists including Anthony Braxton, Butch Morris, Frank London and many others.
In 2004 Reut was honored with the "Best New Talent" Award by All About Jazz Magazine, proving her drive and passion.
In demand in New York's Jazz Scene for her advanced rhythmic concepts, melodic imagination, and utter commitment to the musical moment at hand, Reut has also performed with Dave Douglas, Joe Bataan, John Tchicai, Tito Puente Jr. , Chocolate Genius Marc Anthony, among many others.
