London based Charlie Tappin, aka C.Tappin, is a pianist and singer with influences of soul, hip hop, jazz and ambient music. These diverse interests have seen him featured on projects across a variety of genres, as well as releasing two solo EPs that showcase his more experimental nature.

Growing up in a very musical home, C.Tappin has always been heavily influenced by choral music and the power of multiple voices. With a piano in the home, it was inevitable that he would begin to experiment using both the instrument and his voice to create soundscapes. His music is pensive and thoughtful, inviting the listener to think and ask questions of both themselves and the society around them.

His debut EP, ‘Ashes to Ashes’, released on Melting Pot Music, was an instrumental foray into the world of being a solo artist, mirroring his interests in dance music as well as an early understanding of jazz. Followed up with the reflective, self-released ‘This World’ in 2020, the listener begins to hear the gospel and ambient influences come through more prominently as C.Tappin offers greater insight into his life and the questions he poses to himself.

Alongside his solo ventures, C.Tappin is involved in The Silhouettes Project as band leader and vocalist, which collaborates with up-and-coming London artists such as Enny, Kofi Stone and Eerf Evil. He has also released two full-length albums as ‘Syrup’ with lifetime friend and collaborator Turt (of Summers Sons) and German beat-heavyweight Twit One, as well as one album with Summers Sons called ‘Uhuru’.

This year sees C.Tappin release his third solo project, ‘Change’. A collection of songs that reflect the last three years of life, the ups and downs of lockdown and the unrest in society. The title reflects what he feels is needed right now: change.
