Funky Fareed (Spare Parts)
Our good friends in jazz and funk from the great city of Chicago are back with their sixth album release. For WAREHAUS WEST SESSIONS VOL 1 the band brought in some of Chicago’s heavy hitters including fellow Ropeadope artist Bill Dickens on Bass, guitar virtuoso Fareed Haque, and saxophonist Rajiv Halim. The album weaves between raw seventies funk to jazz fusion and straight rock with the band’s cover of Four Sticks by Led Zeppelin. They also tackled Jazz Crimes by Joshua Redman, a song they have long enjoyed playing live. This is a seasoned band constantly finding new and exciting ground to cover, and the live feel of this record shows both their maturity and their dedication to the groove. Remembering 2014 - Spare Parts
Flashing back to 2014 at the fake office - why? Because it was a great year too! We’ll kick it off with Chicago’s own Spare Parts - the power trio that lays down some serious funk for hours. The band hit us up with this self titled gem of a record in January 2014, and we’re still dancing. Russ Davis from MOJA radio said it best - ‘These guys squeeze more out of keyboards, bass and drums than any trio you’ll find anywhere!" We AGREE.
