Snarky Puppy’s Family Dinner

It's been two years since the Pups and Lalah Hathaway took the stage at The Grammys in a triumphant win for Best R&B Performance. Yes, a jazz band from Texas did that. We could not be more proud of the successful arc of this band as they reap the rewards of years of hard work and creativity. As the band prepares to release the second edition of the Family Dinner series, we're reflecting on the enduring quality of the record that took them to the national stage. Family Dinner Vol. 1 was partly a benefit for The Jefferson Center and their very cool music education center called The Music Lab. If you haven't yet, find it and a few other gems from the Pups right here.

Remembering 2014 - Snarky Puppy

Fresh off their Grammy win for Family Dinner Vol 1, Snarky Puppy delivered this record about three weeks before release date. We dropped everything and got it rolling, to the delight and wonder of a growing legion of fans worldwide. The title - We Like It Here - has many meanings as it sits comfortably on the Itunes jazz charts to this day. We remain honored to be the label that brought four Snarky Puppy titles to the world, a collection of seminal works at the center of the band’s development. As the next wave of jazz standard bearers comes to our shores, we remember Snarky Puppy as a pioneer in bringing jazz to young audiences.

Snarky Puppy’s Impulse! Debut

There comes a time when the kids grow up and move out of the house, and this is that time. As we send them off, we offer HUGE congratulations to Snarky Puppy on their debut release with the legendary Impulse! label. We at Ropeadope are thrilled that Michael League and the band have found such great success at such a difficult time in the music business, and we offer our appreciation and thanks for trusting us and fighting the good fight over the past 6 years here at Ropeadope. Their dedication, musicianship, and perservance are a beacon and a guiding path for all artists. Here at Ropeadope, the mission continues as we have always been and will always be a champion of the independent band looking for a solid road to stability. There are many hardworking and talented artists that need our help, and we’re keeping our sleeves rolled up to support them.

The Fake office is now live from New Orleans LA - A city that has always been close to our hearts. Almost 10 years ago they tried to wash it away, but the soul does not die and great music is still created, played, and lived right here. We're visiting with many, but the main event is Snarky Puppy's Family Dinner Volume 2. Last night we caught some rehearsals with the great David Crosby, Susana Baca, and more. While we wait for the magic to unfold, let's go back to the beginning with Family Dinner Vol 1. Enjoy.

Snarky Puppy's most recent recording with The Metropole Orkestra will be released this spring on Impulse!
