2013 recap - Black Gold 360 & Fumihito Sugawara

Connection is what we are all about, so when two of our artists semi-secretly collaborated via the internet to create a new record we got a warm and fuzzy feeling. Simon Sixsmith kicked us off back in the Ropeadope Digital days with Black Gold 360, and the musically restless Fumi-Hito delivered two eclectic and fluid records over the years. 20 Country Love Songs delves into some traditional sounds and quickly darts into the future. This is one of those records that will take years to fully understand. Check it, share it, support transglobal collaboration right here.

Holland X Hiroshima X Austin

Simon Sixsmith and Fumihito Sugawara have never met. They have never even skyped. They would not recognize each other if they were sitting in the same cafe. Yet, they have managed to create a stylish, unpredictable, atmospheric and curiously jazzy record together. 20 Country Love Songs drops tomorrow, but you can drop in right here and enjoy it today.

20 Country Love Songs drops on 12/10

Simon Sixsmith and Fumihito Sugawara have never met. They have never even skyped. They would not recognize each other if they were sitting in the same cafe. Yet, they have managed to create a stylish, unpredictable, atmospheric and curiously jazzy record together. The two unusual artists discovered each other here at Ropeadope. The two quickly developed an online musical bromance of inspired file-sharing and co-creating, and about a year later, 20 Country Love Songs was finished.

Simon Sixsmith is…

Simon Sixsmith, England born and Holland dwelling, is the force behind Black Gold 360. Currently on the fifth album for the BG360 project, Simon is a producer (Black Box Studios), record label head (2419), and front man for American band the Vs. His life is constantly disrupted by Manchester City Football Club.

The magnificent Fumi-hito

Raised in Hiroshima Japan, Fumihito Sugawara has found a home in Austin Texas and embraced worldwdie music culture and collaboration. from his 2010 debut This Goes, to the imaginary film soundtrack Lo-21, Fumi-Hito manages to waltz from genre to genre with ease. His current project with Simon Sixsmith (Black Gold 360) developed entirely through the internet. Fumi-Hito has more in the works, with an upcoming 2014 release of what we like to call surf-lounge music.
