In the south of France, Onde Music head honcho Ben Rando has been busy recording his remarkable debut album - TRUE STORY. Inspired both by 20th century classical music and contemporary folk, Rando sets the tone with his delicate piano style underpinning dreamy vocals from Sarah Elizabeth Charles. The band is solid - Yacine Boulares on Sax, Federico Casagrande on guitar, Sam Favreau on double bass, and Cedrick Bec on drums - and they perform with a subtle precision that keps the piano and vocals right in front. TRUE STORY is the flower that you stop to admire, a thing of beauty and solace in a chaotic world. Say Bonjour to Mr. Rando here, Drop in here to get a taste, and pick it up anywhere on Friday March 10.

It is our distinct honor to welcome MR. EDDIE PALMIERI to the Ropeadope family of artists. Mr. Palmieri embodies the full spirit and intent of our mission - throughout his life and career he has fostered the qualities of independence, adventurous musical exploration, and most deeply has brought to life the spirit of crossing cultural boundaries for the singular purpose of connecting humans. His career is legendary - 10 Grammys, thousands of electrifying and soul affirming performances, all the time dropping jewels for us to hear for eternity. In the coming months we will chronicle his life and music to bring the full context of his contribution to humanity to light. If you are placing Mr. Palmieri squarely in Latin Jazz, or in Salsa, take note from the start that there is much much more - in fact much of what we know of these styles was firmly shaped by Mr. Palmieri himself, as he challenged existing structures by adding elements from his experience in music. Let us begin in the present day, as the maestro celebrates his 80th year - in his words 'I'm a frustrated percussionist, so I take it out on the piano'. Drop in here to start your day, and stay tuned as we turn back the pages.
Must be nice
Russ Lawton and Ray Paczkowski are back! The power (Drums and Hammond) Duo are at it again with the followup to the 2015 Smashed World EP. This one's called MUST BE NICE and we sense a deliberate double meaning - a little bit of sarcasm, a little bit of warning to the world, and a whole lot of heavy groove. Digging into the pool of rhythm and melody, drawing from the funk and Afrobeat, Ray and Russ smash it all up. Be ready, because they come right of of the gate with that sound. Check in on Must Be Nice right here, call your Mom, and smile at the next person you see. Because you must.

Breakin Old habits
Hailing from the great land of Puerto Rico, Sr. Langosta has been in the basement mixin up the medicine: a solid stew of Acid Jazz, Fusion, and Rock that hints clearly at the greats of the 70's. Jorge Andres Ferrreras leads the band on guitar, with Manuel Rodriguez on bass, Gamaliel Santiago on percussion, Alexandra Rivera on keys, and Timothy Cooper on vibes. Together they travel the sonic spaceways, exploring the roots at the intersection of Jazz and Rock. This is fun music to listen to, yet you can feel the composer throughout. We are very excited about this band, and urge you to drop in here to discover the world of Sr. Langosta.
