about the artist
Adam & Kizzie were born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Their natural talents and love for music brought their paths at an intersection when the two were enrolled in the district's best performing arts program found at Classen School of Advanced Studies, a magnet school specializing in the IB Diploma Program & Fine Arts. Adam was enrolled to further along his training in piano after his parents watched his natural talents blossom as early as the young age of 10. Singing since she was 5 years old, her mother thought it fitting to enroll Kizzie into the vocal program at the school. The two became inseparable friends in high school, rapping, singing, anddancing after school. The kids’ paths split, however, when adult life took them on separate journeys. Kizzie traveled the world with Disney: performing in the Tokyo DisneySea resort in Japan for two years; later joining the company's 'Wonder' Cruise Line for six months. She garnered featured solos in each of the venue's largest productions. Meanwhile Adam was touring Oklahoma and Europe with the University of Central Oklahoma Jazz Band, and later founded his own well sought after jazz quartet. New Growth. All the while teaching private lessons to young talents whose parents all agreed he was the best musician to train under in the city. Adam & Kizzie's paths crossed again, and in the midst of rekindling an old friendship and a mutual love of music, an unexpected romance brewed and the two were married. 2013 saw the couple’s debut album, The Book Of EEDO Vol. 2, hit the airwaves with a progressive blend of jazz, R & B, gospel, and Hip-Hop. Yes, we just said that - Adam & Kizzie are in their own category, composing music as they hear and feel it. The process is best described by the artist: Our music is the story of our lives. Past, present, and in many ways, future. What we create comes from within. It comes from a place unique to our path, but tangible to others who listen to it. Our own heartbreak is different from anyone else's but heartbreak is something everyone can relate to. Such is the same with our triumphs, our love story, our aspirations, our joy. Our music is about the love of music, the love of God, and our love for each other. (Kizzie) For many years I worked in various phases. First I was strictly a classical pianist, thats all I wanted to do - then I was an MC/Producer and then a jazz pianist. Each time - I had a very narrow view of myself musically. When Kizzie and I came together I wanted to collaborate for the sake of love but she was in a place musically I couldn't identify myself with and it forced me to open my mind. Now I recognize stylistic tendencies and genres more as instruments than classifications. I can use jazz piano vocabulary to evoke a feeling and juxtapose it with a rap and then add Kizzie, whose voice is one of the most flexible I've ever encountered and it evokes something very specific that's a little different every time but it always has our identity tied to it. In short, music is a spiritual exercise for me. (Adam)
