The result is an old school party album that will move your body and soul. The ballads are gorgeous and free of affectation - soulful saxophone played in a manner that is almost extinct, backed up by a superb band.

Clearing the clutter from his metaphorical closet, Michael Blake delivers pure soul music, the gritty and joyful story of an old soul.

about the artist

Michael Blake got his break in NYC when John Lurie invited him to join the Lounge Lizards in the early 1990's. His career includes playing in highbrow jazz circles, avant-grade collectives, and rootsy dive bar bands. After several albums that show his range of style, Michael settled into the studio with producer Andy Taub and some of his downtown friends for his next release, Red Hook Soul.
